Part 5: Surveys
Tips
Creating a survey may seem easy, but there’s more to it than just adding a bunch of questions and waiting for the responses. There are many mistakes that can be made with a survey, which in turn can affect the quality of your data and its reliability.
Some common mistakes are:
- Using yes-no questions instead of open questions
- Having too many questions
- Using leading or misleading questions
- Lacking a common thread and jumping between subjects
- Including unnecessary questions “just because” even though you won’t use the data
At Extellio, we have worked with surveys, and web surveys in particular, for many years and are happy to share our knowledge with you. We have a Knowledge Base where you can find articles such as:
- Writing good survey questions
- How to structure your survey
- How to think when you have too many survey questions
- How many survey responses do you need?
- How to prevent a high drop-off rate for your survey
- How long trigger time should you have?
…and more. You can check out all our articles about surveys here.
Now that you know how to create a survey, and have some tips on how to create a good one, it’s time to look at your results.
